Kitchen update

I thought I would share some pictures of our kitchen when we first moved into our home. This was the one room that needed the most work. I think we had been living here for maybe one or two days when we took off the cabinets that are cutting the kitchen in half. Shortly after we had flooring installed, new countertops installed and painted. This is our kitchen today. I had a friend say that she thought my style was "italian", hmmm, I'm not sure how I would say my style is.

I would like to change up the hardware but I'm at a loss because our hardware is situated in the middle of the doors instead of the bottom corner like most. It makes it very difficult to change.

I'm still looking for the perfect pendant light to put over the kitchen sink and would also like to put a new fan over our kitchen table. Maybe something like this, although I was thinking more retro.

One person's garbage...

Is another persons treasure. I pulled this beauty out of the glass recycling bin, really, what were they thinking??

I picked up these bad boys along with my lantern and today went to hang them up in the mudroom. I was figuring out what kind of picture to put inside them when I discovered that it wasn't carboard in the back it was a chalkboard!! So that was a nice surprise, except I really don't like my handwriting, I may have to get someone else to do a re-write. :)

I would absolutely love to take on this kind of project someday. I couldn't get the pic of the after photo but click on the link to see what it looks like now, it's unreal!

Check out this great find I found in Vancouver at a thrift store, and it only cost $3.00. I just love it. I put it on the cabinet that I recently just did in our living room and it looks great, although I may swap out the candle sometime soon.

I'm back!

So after two years of abandoning all things blogging, I decided to check it out again and was doing some Blog surfing one day where you just click on "next blog" and I came upon this girl's blog called, the Lettered Cottage, and was hooked. From there I've been checking out the blogs she checks out and have been inspired again. I absolutely love going garage saling and finding good deals and bringing them back to life. So I've decided to start blogging again and show some of the things that I've done in the past few years and hopefully will continue to do when I can find the time!

I grabbed this little find off of kijiji recently for $40.00 and it came with the mirror attached to the back of it (not shown in original pic). I took out the bottom two drawers and finished the inside of the cabinet with tongue and groove boards, stained the top and inside and painted the rest white and added some knobs. I then took the mirror and framed it with some stained pine boards and that's it. The cabinet now holds our back speakers and the drawer I'm sure will somehow end up getting filled up with junk! I'm still contemplating switching up the legs and will probably rearrange wha'ts setting on top a bit.
